Stellar, an architecture, engineering, construction and mechanical services firm, has completed the renovation of Leilehua Golf Course, a military-owned public course on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. The project brought the nearly 70-year-old course beyond modern military standards to also achieve United States Golf Association (USGA) standards. The course is now being hailed as one of the military’s top courses worldwide.

What was old is not exactly new again at Leilehua Golf Course, but it is definitely ... different. The Army started renovations in Wahiawa in January of last year. All 18 re-opened this April.

Before leaving Seattle for Gold Mountain, Calif., I'd heard a lot about the Dragon Golf Course, mostly in press releases from Dan Shepherd of Buffalo Communications.

No dirt moving or pesticides will be needed.

During these litigious, environmentally-hyper times, the term “wetlands” frequently is anathema to a golf course development. Such is not the case in Haines, Alaska, where a retired doctor and a visionary golf course designer are building a course smack dab in the middle of wetlands.
